Have got a chance of buying a refurbished Dell UltraSharp U2410 24 Full HD IPS Widescreen on EBay for $220 something I don't usually buy this sort of gear from but the specs are really good as is the sellers rep.
Now I have Googled around and tried to find an answer re - will this 1920x1200 res monitor be ok for the max res of my laptop - 1920x1080.
I can get a new Samsung IPS for $260 though the screen brightness is 250 cd/m2 as opposed to the Dell's 400 cd/m2 and I do like a bright screen.
Any thoughts welcome.

Sorry late reply mate (at work) the lappy has the Intel HD 4600 and the GTX 860M but apparently the GTX doesn't cut in unless the machine is being driven too hard for the Intel ie intensive gaming. So as I don't game very much at all I only ever run on the Intel - 1920x1080.
I mean I can go the Samsung but it was the cd/m2 that caught my eye.

Hmm interesting Gokhan thanks for those links - I sorta guessed the GTX would do probably any resolution and the Intel seems to be goer with it too I just need to decide now whether I should go the Dell or the Samsung. I did toy with the idea too that I should go 27" even though I would be spending a but more - I have a 27" Samsung at my place which rather spoils you somewhat as that is an IPS screen.
Trouble is I am a bit of a procrastinator as I always come across stuff that I think might be better plus I do tend to feel a bit guilty about spending money like that on myself.
Anyway I don't have to rush at it I suppose.
