Question about SSD

I had got one of these a couple months ago and was wondering if anyone has any experience using it. I own it cause I snatched it up figuring I could format it and stick it in an old pc and sell it. But that PC died on me before I could sell it. I am wondering if it is worth adding it to my system. A lot of the reviews on the product seem to suggest that its better as a drive then what it was intended for. Which is a cache drive with special software. Many stated they use it for their (windows) primary drive and have their data on the other.

Problem is I have 7 professional and I cannot fit that all on this disk. I have tried. Its low after installing windows 7, it would be even more low after windows updates.

So I am wondering if anyone thinks this would be useful for the way it was originally intended?
Some reviews mentioned they used it the way it was intended and found it was good at first, but that the software would sometimes wipe the cache and then the pc would take even longer then usual before the upgrade as it rebuilds the cache. I mean, I am satisfied with my speeds, but its kinda just sitting here and I am not sure I would want to throw it in without some thoughts first.

Does anyone here own this or something like it? Would it be worth it?

I could always save it for a junk laptop that I find laying around....

How small is the SSD?

32 gigs is enough to get by minimally with Windows 7 and then use other drives for storage.

Ya it is a 32gb. And like I mentioned in my post, 7 pro will not fit.

Windows 7 takes up 17Gb, so it would fit. But it does not leave room for other programs which could be installed on other drives. You could move the user files to another drive (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/87555-user-profile-change-default-location.html) and install most programs on another drive.

I use 7 Ultimate, it would fit on a 20gig, now if 7 is default pigging the rest for the pagefile.sys (Virtual memory) that setting needs lowered, try 1024 megs, min/max, I bet that is what happened.

The hyberfil.sys file will account for another 12GB. It can be eliminated if hibernation is disabled.

Really? Maybe for home premium, but when I install my 7 pro copy sp1 it quickly fills it up....

Thanks guys. I don't know if I feel comfortable with the idea of getting it on there, but only having 10gb free. I think ill just stick it on another system when i find one, or maybe use it for the intended purpose.

Do you guys think The intended purpose would do anything?

I do not really understand what this does. Is this like super fetch or is it more like moving my page file to it?

I am just wondering what it actually does and if its worth using. I guess from what It says it just loads my frequently used programs to the ssd and then launches them from their thus increasing the speed. Is that correct? Only thing that worries me about this is if the SSD fails, it might get something screwed up if it cached a program and didn't release it properly. Maybe I am just worried about nothing.
