Hi,

I have 2 30gb SSD drives hanging around and decided to create my new PC using them both in RAID 0. That seems to have worked fine through the Gigabyte utility and shows a 54GB disk on startup.

During Windows 7 installation it cannot see any disk. I have downloaded the RAID driver from Gigabyte onto a USB pen, but it shows as empty when I browse for the driver during the Windows installation. The driver I downloaded was an .exe file? Is that correct, or should I be looking for a real driver like a .inf files?

Thanks, Tim

Not an expert on your situation, but I think an .exe would be self-installing from a windows environment, and you aren't there yet. 30GB is rather small partition from which to install and run Windows. Are the disks formatted and present in the BIOS setup?

I see where you are going though ...

I wasn't really after the speed advantage, just something to do with 2 otherwise useless SSD's. I only need to instal windows and office, no docs will be stored on it. So should be ok for a while, until updates become to large for the disk!

Any ideas anyone?

Save the driver (.inf file) on a USB drive and load it when asked during Windows install.

But there is only an exe file on the gigabyte website. How do I get the inf?

Did you try F6 during the install and prompt for the USB drive?

Update: The Gigabyte .exe appears to facilitate booting from USB/floppy.

If you are using the AMD RAID drivers (version 6.1.3.35) from the Gigabyte site you listed,
run the exe file (double click on it), it will extract the drivers to a place you designate.

Thanks, that worked eventually. I had another issue as well, setup was saying it needed dvd drivers for my external drive. Solved by cancelling to the blue windows 7 screen, swapped drive to another USB port, then instal again, worked fine.
