As I mentioned the G Skill website and customer blog it outstanding resource as well. I see by your eyes you're shocked at the price but don't be it's just gets more expensive from here ! LOL

Well, I always thought the fewer DIMM slots you had occupied the easier it was on your system and statistically fewer chances of something going wrong. I know some boards have problems with all slots being occupied. I never thought of it the way you explained it.

Here is the Qualified Vendor List for my motherboard http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x79-up4.pdf. The 4gb dimms i'm using are actually on this list but not the 2gb versions which both sizes are ADATA. I will take out the 2gb dimms and see if I can at least get the BSOD to stop popping up at random but I'm still going to buy new RAM and am open to any recommendations for what's on the list.

Mixing RAM sticks, especially different sizes, can cause BSODs (so can just one bad or failing stick). Some MOBOs are more sensitive to mixed RAM than others. From looking at your list, it appears 4GB sticks are the largest ones you can use at 1600MHz, limiting you to 32GB. To get 64GB (which I don't recommend), you would be limited to 1333MHz.

The list is a bit confusing in that it lists individual stick part numbers, not the numbers for kits. RAM should be installed in matched sets (aka kits). Just because several sticks may have the same part number doesn't mean they will be matched (chances are, they won't be). The only way to be sure they are matched would be to buy and install only complete kits.

The biggest (and only) kit I could find at Newegg and Amazon for 1600MHz was the G.SKILL F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM, which is a 16GB kit. I do not recommend buying two to use together to get 32GB. I didn't see anything in the 1333MHz list made by anyone I would trust.

I checked at G.SKILL's website (since it's the most popular brand) and couldn't find your board listed (same for Corsair). I then checked at Kingston's website (I've had excellent luck with Kingston products). They listed only one kit that wasn't as nice as the G-SKILL I previously listed.

I finally hit paydirt on Crucial's website with this RAM kit. Newegg also has it here but there aren't any reviews on it, which makes me a bit nervous (as does the fact it's a four 8GB kit). I couldn't find it anywhere else I looked. Based on similar results I found on Fry's site, it's apparently an older model (all were being discontinued). Crucial also lists several other kits that are supposedly compatible but they didn't look any better. If I were to buy a Crucial kit, I would stick with the one they recommended. I would also make sure you can return it should it not work (methinks Newegg allows returns but check first).

I'm not guaranteeing that the Crucial kit will work. At least the G.Skill 16GB kit was on their AVL (which isn't necessarily a guarantee that it will work).

The set you picked out is fine, but I agree with everyone, it`s overkill. But you don`t HAVE TO put it all in, run tests and decide for yourself.
