Did you run virus checks that Arc mentioned earlier? MSE, TDSSkiller, eset online scanner? Please do in case you haven't.

I have done items #1 and #2 without adverse results. I have "cleaned" the startup and will have to wait for some time to determine any effect due to the random nature of my problem.
