Registry Key Write Error 1406

hey,
i'm facing a prob from some days...i'm getting this Could not write value to key <> error while installing some s/w (like virtual box, maya, 3ds max)...it says i dont have sufficient access to the key, though i'm the admin (and the only user) on the system...i tried changing permission of my user accnt to full control but still the prob persists...

Did you see if you can verify if that key exist?
