How To Reinstall Anywhere Ultimate using Ultimate RTM Disk

Decided to do a clean install after sp1 issues but ASUS G73JH restore disk had been scratched and so I used a Windows Ultimate Disk instead.Of course it wouldn't accept my Anywhere Ultimate code so I used another one I have but when I tried to change to the Anywhere one b4 activating it wouldn't let me.So I did the reg change and reset the sl manager as mentioned here. Still no good so I loaded the old installations software hive using regedit and copied the
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId] from the old windows to the new one.

Now I was able to activate the thing with my Anywhere code . I'd searched for the answer how but didn't find one so thought I'd paste one here in case anyone else wants to save the bother of having to install the original then have to do the anywhere upgrade.

Always save externally a backup image of the machine's licensed OS and the Anytime Upgraded OS so you can reimage to HD or it's replacement in 20 minutes. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html

I stupidly scratched my OS disk of win 7 pro x64 while trying to cut it open the paper pouch with a sharp knife! It did leave a quite deep scratch on the glaze/reading face of the disk. Luckily however I made a copy of the contents with the same scratched on a different Desktop computer & installed it, but it used to hang at times, so decided to install Ubuntu with a dual boot settings. While installing Ubuntu I without noticing the settings correctly I made a full format install loosing all the Win 7 installation (Thank God, I had made a backup of all those vital personal documents a few days back as I had issues with the factory OS installation).

Now I want to install the original win 7 i had purchased along with the laptop, but have ended with that unreadable disk in my laptop. I also tried making an image to burn to a new DVD but it is oversized to make a copy. Please let me know how to make the bootable disk to continue with the installation files already copied in the Hard drive.

Thanks @theog, that was really fast!

I will try with the USB flash drive method, with that tools from MS as I am not accessible for a 64 bit os right now. I have also downloaded a iso image of a recovery disk from someother website. Will try both of them, thanks once again!

Hi theog, I tried after getting the Dual layer DVD, but the recovered image seems corrupted as it just hangs up during installation after booting. The 2nd looks of no use as it needs a working win7x64 to make a keydrive & 3rd option is only good for data-backup option, which I do not need as I have my personal data with me already.

Any luck outside the box? Since I have already purchased the legal disk & have just damaged the media, I am not interested in buying a new copy altogether! Basically it is not my fault due to, which I was forced to reinstall as the Dell had not made a correct installation!

The basic files of the disk are there with me & was working fine, but cannot make a bootable disk to make a fresh install of Win7x64Pro.

Is there any option/tool, where I can use the boot sector of the bootable disk & use the files from the working copy & make a fresh bootable installation disk for this?
