In Windows 7 SP1, how do I remove the current network profile (Ethernet or wireless) so that, when I restart my system, Windows creates a new network profile?

Ethernet will usually be handled automatically.

You could use the method in the tutorial below to remove a wireless network profile. You will have to manually connect to the wireless network again afterwards though.

You can do this below to do so:

1) Open an elevated command prompt.

2) Enter the netsh lan show profiles command, and press Enter.

3) Make note of the interface name (ex: "Ethernet") of the profile you want to delete.

4) Enter the netsh lan delete profile interface="Ethernet" command, and press Enter. Substitute Ethernet in the command with the name of your interface instead.

With the netsh command, it is possible to reset only the parameter that indicates the type of network profile of an Ethernet or Wireless in use so that, at the next connection, Windows asks the user again which type of network profile he would like?

Nope. As stated, Ethernet is handled automatically.

You will have to manually setup and connect to the wireless connection again after deleting it though.

You can't for Ethernet, but can change it when you like.

For wireless, you would just need to delete the wireless profile. You will be asked what network location to use when you setup and connect to the wireless network again.

In an Ethernet connection in use, if I delete the Category item in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles\<Current_network_GUID> key and I restart the system, when the user will attempt to connect to this Ethernet network, Windows will display the choice window of the network location type?
