I bought a second hand 'emachines' machine running Win 7 home premium 64-bit to help a 'handicapped' friend learn computing.
The machine has an AMD Athlon II 179u processor with 2gb DDR3 memory.
NVIDIA 'Geforce' 6150SE
THE PROBLEM :- On start up 2 icons appear 'Desktop PC' and 'Guest'.
Clicking on 'Desktop PC' demands a pass-word, whilst 'Guest' has limited functions.
QUESTION :- What can I do to reset the Administrators pass-word, to make the machine useful.

You will need boot media, e.g. an installation disc/usb

If you have product key on a sticker - best to do a clean install.

You will need installation media for that - not hard to find.

As always when buying an used computer, the very first step you must perform is a clean install, wiping the entire OS of anything left by the previous owner. This will, incidentally, also blow up the previous password, giving you the change of setting your own.

Hi fred4bris,

I totally agree with Alejandro85.

You can get any necessary drivers etc from here => eMachines Support.

I hope this helps!
