resolution has gone to hell...

hey all,

i have an asus M3A78-EM motherboard with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics card, and am looking at a Westinghouse L1975NW monitor. after having the computer shut down for a week i fired it up and now my resolution is set at 1024x768. windows recognized the monitor as generic non-pnp also. i've updated the graphics card driver to the most recent and the monitor is still not recognized. i can increase the resolution, however, 1440x900 is not listed in the drop-down list and that is what my monitor is supposed to be capable of. this leads me to believe that something is still wrong. what could have happened? these big blurry letters are killin' my eyes!

thanks
wes

have you unchecked the "hide modes this monitor cannot support" checkbox in the resolutions section of your driver cp?

sorry mate i didnt realise you didnt know hat the issue was , you need to install the drivers and/or the colour profile for your monitor that way your gpu drivers will recognise it and offer up the correct res's and frequencies , most monitors your drivers will pick up anyway some it wont , my dell for example needs the drivers installed or i cant set my freq to 75hz

Im having trouble finding a website for your monotor mate , did it come with a disk?

i can help with the installation of colour profiles etc if you can find em

Pick either one of the above resolutions and see if it looks correct. Windows Update may have updated your resolutions or the video driver did. The above may look better than what you were using before. Let us know.

nothing will look better than the monitors default res and choosing 1600x960 will give him an "out of range" black screen error which he may or may not have to boot into safemode to rectify

I may be confused, is this a plug and play issue?
Not showing your monitor SPECIFICALLY any more...
I verified 1440 by 900 is the monitor's max res, could be on the way out, it's an inexpensive one.
You seem to have eliminated it being the driver, right?
BUT:
Drag it to another PC and see if it works perfectly there.
Could be a cabling issue, video card problem, etc etc.
I'd want to make sure it's not the monitor itself first! :D

yeah that's the problem. apparently the monitor didn't come with a driver since it is PnP and there is no driver i can find on the net. i will try to plug it into my laptop and see if it shows up as anything other than "generic non-pnp monitor."
