Restore the Default Settings in Firefox?

To be safe, in FF, click Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks. In the window that opens, click on the "Import and Backup" drop down, then backup. You now have a backup file of your favorites.

It should have filled in the filename already. I think it places it on the desktop and is labeled with "bookmarks-< the date> as a JSON file. That is fine, as long as you remember where it is in case you need to restore it. Good luck!

Once you click "backup" in the dropdown, it should show "Desktop" in the location at top. In the file name box, enter Bookmarks-2010-4-29, in "Save as Type" box select JSON. Click the "Save" box.

They should be on your Desktop by default. Right-click your taskbar and select "Show the desktop". They should show up there. The nice thing about the JSON files is Firefox knows about them so when you go to restore, you just choose the date, because it already knows when it took the backups.

Yes, on the backup window, at the top in the location bar. Click the dropdown and see what is available there.

You can grab a screenshot of anything you want with the builtin snipping tool. Click the Window button on very bottom left of your taskbar, then in "search programs and files" box at the bottom type in: snipping tool, then hit enter. Then you can grab the whole window, or if you choose New, then drop down to "Rectangular Snip" you can use the cursor to grab just the part you want to screenshot.
