Risen, black screen

Hello again
Today I installed Risen on my computer. Firstly, when I tried to launch the game, an icon ,,Risen" appeared, than disappeared and nothing happened. When I tried to launch this in compatibility mode the game started but there was only black screen. no menu, intro etc.

I'm using Windows 7 RC 64-bit version, may that be the main problem?
My computer parameters:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 gHz
2GB RAM DDR3
nVidia GeForce 8500GT 512MB

Anybody has solved this problem so far?

added:

I have the latest dX and graphic drivers.

Hi and welcome to seven forums

64 bit might be part of the problem because you only have 2 gigs of ram (the absolute minimum for 64bit) but I suspect its more than that.

lets look firrst at device manager. type device manager in search. go to the display tab and expand it. does the video driver have a yellow triangle on it, or is it not there?

Let us know the answer

No problem. I didnt figure it would be that easy.

Can we now go to event viewer (type event in search) go to the windows logs tab and expand it. go to application tab and look for errors (they have red in the left column) that relate to the game. It can say something like application error and in the details say risen has .......

they are t here. can you take a screenshot of one and upload it to us.

Let us know if you need help with it

You cannot run Risen with your computers specs

Risen is very Graphic heavy and a very CPU demanding game

He's got it covered. This post is a few months old, but it's still one of the top search results for "Risen black screen" so I thought I'd post a link that seemed helpful for Risen's plethora of bugs:
