Hey,

Can anyone please help me with the SSD Speed on Windows 7 x64 Professional?

I own the two HDD's in the picture, but the SSD has the same speeds like the HDD :(

I honestly don't know what to do as I have installed Samsung Magician and updated firmware, but there is no improvement...

Just bought the PC and it does not seem to perform as expected and I don't want any probs in the future....

My Rig is:
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler Corsair H80 92.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage Samsung 840 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Seagate Desktop HDD 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card
Case Corsair 350D ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Any reply is much appreciated folks!
A beer from me to the lad that helps me out :)

Dan

what picture?
"the SSD has the same speeds like the SSD"
that sounds normal.

the board only has sata II connectors, the SDD is sata III.
don't worry about it. you'll loose 3 seconds of your life every day.
any pecievable performance problems are unrelated.

How much free space is there on your SSD? Please post a screenshot of Disk Management as described in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/274797-disk-management-post-screen-capture-image.html

Is TRIM active?
Download and run trimcheck on the SSD partition. Index of /trimcheck
Follow the instructions in the cmd window.
If it tells you trim is disabled run cmd for the SSD partition and enter:
Code:
fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0

Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out :) it is much appreciated!

Both the SSD's have more than 50% free space.
I ran the programme for TRIM, but it does not say if it is active or not - at least I can't see it.

Have inserted the screenshot you requested + 2 for each SSD with the TRIM programme.

Could you please let me know how should I move forward?

Regards,
Dan

Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out it is much appreciated!

That's a shame! I just bought the rig to replace my laptop and thought that it has all the gizmos... :(

Should I be looking for a SATA III motherboard then? Any recommendations for that?
Preferably MSI or ASUS?

Regards,
Dan

When you run Trimtest, you have to re-run it a second time (wait 20 seconds).
Since you have left the previous test half way, manually delete the trimtest-cont.json file (may be hidden). Run the test, exit and wait 20 seconds. Then re-run. Post that 2nd test if you can't make out what's being reported.

With SATA2 specs and Samsung 840 you should see 240-270 MB/s speeds.

Is your 840 Evo or Pro? Did you update to the latest firmware?

totally irrelevant. i'm sitting on a 10.000$ workstation and i'm in the same situation.
had to throttle system ssd to sata II because of intel driver problem, never noticed a difference.
ssds will boost your system regardless, cpu, gpus are your bottlenecks.
as i said... 3seconds per day

How do you throttle to SATA 2? Just wondered. Also you can try to use msahci drivers instead if IRST causing problems. I understand what you mean by 3 seconds, my SATA2 laptop boots in less than 15 seconds whilst SATA3 desktop in 50 seconds. Desktop is loaded though both with software and extra hardware, but still...

Hey,

Ran Trimtest again and it looks like it works :)

Had a SSD programme that helped me tick the boxes in terms of SSD Setup, but I don't see any improvements...

Guess the next step for my rig is to get her a new motherboard?

Anyhow,

Thanks for the help guys!

Much appreciated :)
