I'm running Win 7 Pro x68bit, machine works flawless for a couple of days, then has this querk of either hanging, crashes or reboots after installing a Samsung Evo 500gb SSD.

I've got Trim enabled in cmd prompt and the Samsung monitor indicates all is well - the machine works flawless on the old HDD 'spinner' AND a spare Crucial 250Gb SSD it seems.

The Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-F2A88x-D3H on a AMD 3.6Ghz cpu , using 8Gb of Corsair RAM and a 650W Corsair PSU.

I'm wondering if it's a 'config' problem or an issue with the AMD controller. Could anyone throw some light? Thanks

I have had an issue with an old machine where I replaced the HDD (which works fine) with a SSD and it repeatedly freezes up at random intervals or gets stuck on the log in screen. I looked it upon the net and tried some of the solutions suggested in these sites. I only did this last weekend and it stopped the freezing for the next couple of days - I am now away so will have to wait to see if a permanent fix.

It may be worth your while considering some of these solutions (even though they may talk about Win 10) -

There is even something on the Win 10 help forums which I came across referenced on a You Tube site......

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes I've been reading up on a possible solution I want to try is-:

1) Switching from ACHI to IDE support in Bios
2) In device manager under Sata Controllers to install MS drivers instead of AMD, don't know if I'm allowed post a link from Crucial here it is.

When I get the chance I'll clone my drive so it's up to date and then I can have a play.... The problem is the AMD driver... they just don't like Samsung's.

I come across folks having problems with AMD Ryzen CPU's as well, I have a Crucial 250Gb SSD I'll switch over to that when I get some 'play time'.

Thanks for the link which I've bookmarked

It seems that AMD and Samsung aren't playing ball with each other here, kinda puts you off Samsung and AMD stuff. Let you know how I get on.
