System Requirements:
- OS: Windows Vista SP1 / Windows XP SP3
- Processor: Pentium 4 3Ghz or higher
- RAM: 1GB XP, 2GB Vista
- Memory: 6 GB free hard drive space
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800, ATI X1800 or better with DirectX 9c, Shader 3.0, 256 MB
i've been playing most of the morning. it's pretty fun.

Due to release on Sept. 1st on PC & Xbox 360, and will feature a full single player campaign. could be one of the "greats" of "09 from personal experiance.
downside is the "demo" is limited to only a couple maps. you'll have to wait a little while for your download. can be a pain to log in.... for me anyway (forgot to confirm my email)

get it while it's hot.

no problem. though, i haven't personally tested it on 7, as my other hdd died. i'll have to look into it. i assume it will work just fine

-edit- more info about the technical aspects of the game.
Los Angeles, CA - August 17, 2009 - Section 8™ publisher SouthPeak Games along with developer TimeGate Studios, is set to break new ground on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment platform from Microsoft by supporting X Server functionality, an option where players can run their own dedicated servers using a Windows®-based PC. An X Server can handle up to 32 players at once, resulting in one of the largest multiplayer games currently available on the Xbox 360. The X server software will be distributed free of charge* upon Section 8’s launch. Meanwhile, PC gamers can also run dedicated servers for the PC version of the game allowing up to 40 simultaneous players. More information on the availability of the X Server and PC server software will be available at launch on Section 8 (Xbox 360, PC) - Official Game Website - Region Select.
This added functionality is by no means necessary to enjoy the game since Section 8 also features a single player campaign and offline ‘instant action’ where artificially intelligent bots take the place of human opponents. To make sure Section 8 enters battle with all guns blazing; SouthPeak Games will host official ranked PC and X servers in locations around the world. When dedicated servers are not used, Section 8 supports up to 32 players on PC and 16 on Xbox 360.
“FPS fans looking for the perfect multiplayer game expect fast, reliable servers when they're playing online. We go one step further by offering an increased player count and boosting the game play experience to a new level,” said Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak Games. “We're confident that Section 8’s incredible team-based combat and our adoption of cutting-edge server technology provide an experience unlike anything else out there.”
All information contained in this news post comes directly from a press release sent out by SouthPeak Games.
Section 8 is available on PC and Xbox 360 on September 1 in North America and September 4 in Europe.

if you get stuck in the quick match (seems to be the only working option) just keep hitting the refresh button. it worked for me after about 3-4 minutes. they're probably at max capacity, being the first day and all. hopefully they set up more servers soon.

I am rather lazy at the moment. Care to explain what Section 8 is? Well I mean I know it is a game, but whats the story on it? Whats the plot, storyline, etc.

Sorry if that makes little sense, haven't slept much. Been trying to fix the wireless (it hates me less at the moment) AND beat Dead Space on Impossible mode (on chapter 5 out of 12.. lol.. beat it twice on easy ;))

well ..... lets see. for the story, typical faction war going on (blue guys v.s green guys), other than that, idk... the beta doesnt have story mode :P. the online is fast paced spawn, run, gun, eventually die, repeat like in the Battlfield 1942/2142 games. pretty straight forward, you have to keep protect bases, while taking control of enemy bases. you get any weapon load out, each is customizable, then you get shot out of a cannon from a drop ship, to the battlefield (where ever you choose to "spawn")
it's pretty fun, almost a little addicting too. worth a try for anybody really.

i get decent fps on my rig, with medium settings, so the requirments might be a little off, so most everyone here could play with no problems (remember, it IS a beta)

Well I know it is a beta. =P Eh doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in. I'll pass on it for now. =) I prefer things like Halo or Dead Space (Halo is good like that, its just that simple!)
