Security Processor loader Driver

Hello, i just installed windows 7 ultimate 32-bit.

But after like 30 seconds after logon, it completely freezes.

I've already tried setting power mode to "high performance"

I think its a broken driver called "Security Processor loader driver" , cause in device manager it shows the yellow thingy next to it. But the problem is you cant update it by right clicking.

Could anyone tell me how to update the driver/device or how to stop the freezes?

What model Acer do you have? Does it happen to throw an error 24 at all or is it just freezing and that's it?

I have a acer aspire m5100, and i get no error at all, it just freezes.

The only thing I can seem to find on Security Processor loader driver is to try to reinstall your graghics driver. Try that first, not sure if it will work but it couldn't hurt in the mean time maybe someone with a little more knowlage will come along.

I reinstalled (again) and now it works perfect, it was probaly the loader that made it freeze.

I hate to bump this post as the last post was in 2010 but as of January 25th 2012 I wanted to confirm that this post, linked off of google for me, actually solved my problem that I was about to spend money on to have it fixed. I made an account on these forums just to post this.

I ferry my computer back and forth to my friends house because we have weekend long gaming binges from time to time during break or when our class schedules allow for us to do so. Recently my headset has gone bad because of static damage, and I thought that while I was ferrying my computer this time I had done some similar damage to the hard drive or something. I also considered that I, or my friend(s), may have gotten a virus somehow. The symptoms I was having was EXTREMELY slow loading on everything (particularly Firefox for w/e reason). I ran multiple virus / malware scans hoping that I could just clean my system of whatever was ailing it. I also tried disc cleaning, defragmenting, and cleaning the registry. This extreme slowness came almost out of nowhere, although it wasn't bad on the first day I noticed it.

The next day when I turned my computer on my desktop would continuously have the load icon, as well as my start bar. I thought maybe there was a serious virus that my Trend Micro and Malwarebytes wasn't picking up, or that I had something corrupted. I eventually got to the point where I couldn't even load up windows, it would just sit at the sign in screen and I couldn't even power down by holding down the button, I had to flip the power switch to get it to shut off. At this point I was distressed and attempted to load Safe Mode with Networking on my second attempt (the first time it froze which I figured was the end of my computer). When it loaded up, everything was as fast as when I first got windows 7 loaded on my computer (After shipping back my brand new out of the box BROKEN graphics card to Ibuypower and instead of receiving a new one, got the EXACT same one "fixed'). But I digress.

When I was finally able to load firefox I googled my problem and I found a forum post where someone had posted some log and a tech savvy guy caught an error with the driver called "Security Processor Loader". I had no idea what this was and hadn't looked into it and when I did it took me about 30 minutes to find it because the option "Show hidden blah blah blah" has to be checked to view these. When I found that mine in fact had the same yellow exclamation I googled Security Processor Loader and was brought here.

Geeve's directions to reinstall my graphics driver seemed far fetched to me for whatever reason (Mostly because my graphics software had updated maybe 2 weeks earlier and it had been fine until this SUDDEN occurrence). However what I ended up doing was Uninstalling Security Processor Loader, because there is no option to update it. Then I went to AMD's website and downloaded the newest software patch.

I didn't even have to restart my computer, the second it finished installing it was like my freaking computer was cured of leprosy by Jesus or something.

MY POINT IN RESURRECTING THIS POST: As I googled around looking for a solution to my problem I saw other forum posts where the people asking the questions weren't getting the answers they were looking for. The general response by staff on the sites were telling them to Reinstall windows of all things. Obviously this situation didn't require as serious a response as that because Geeve's solution worked perfectly.

If your computer has become SEVERELY slow out of the blue and freezes, attempt loading in Safe Mode. If Safe mode is fast for you, check your drivers while in safe mode. Control Panel > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices > Non-Plug and Play Drivers > Security Processor Loader Driver. If there is a small yellow icon with an exclamation point. Uninstall it (I don't know if this is necessary because the graphics software should override it anyways), and then go to your graphics card / onboard graphics website and download the LATEST patch. I'm not entirely sure if you are able to run the installer(s) in safe mode so you may have to sit through firefox (or whatever browser you use) loading seemingly endlessly. OR you could put it on a disc/flashdrive and load it up that way.

Unfortunately today when I turned my computer on, January 27th 2012, I was plagued with the same slow start up that I was experiencing before. I checked my drivers and this time Security Processor Loader Driver did NOT have an exclamation next to it. I still had the graphics software updater on my desktop, so I loaded it up again. Once I finished installing, the slowness went away again.

I really hope that I don't have to keep reinstalling my graphics software every time I turn my computer back on... Does anyone know if there are any permanent ways to fix this problem?

Do you think that my graphics card is faulty? I've had to ship it out once before (right out of the box in fact).

Try this, download Driver Sweeper (link below my sig) and unistal all graphics drivers. Reinstall them and reboot. Download the driver from here: http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/1810-latest-amd-catalyst-video-driver-windows-7-a.html

I am an IT for a POS company. This provided a solution for the symptoms described on a clients workstation running Windows Embedded Standard (XP). This solution works. If you follow the troubleshooting, and find the same symptoms with security processor loader giving a yellow warning flag, follow these steps.

The event log on the clients workstation showed many Event 7001's in the log (service control manager).
A google search of Event 7001 led me to view device manager>hidden devices>non plug and play drivers, and I saw that security processor loader had the warning flag.
The CPU would spike to 98% and it was near impossible to use (except in safe mode where it ran like new), until I found these instructions. Thank you!

This was not my issue... I had a corrupted User Profile

I may be having this same problem but I don't know for sure on my win 7 Home Premium x64 bit machine.

For a couple of days of trying to fix an issue like a BSOD that I posted here:

All I've come across is that in device manager I have two [FONT=DDG_ProximaNova]Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipsets installed under display adapters. I uninstalled them both and rebooted normal, windows updated them but then when I tried to open event viewer or a browser or nothing at all, the screen goes blank and the keyboard locks up. So I reboot into safe mode w/ networking where in device manager I did the show hidden hidden devices and I have the yellow warning on the 'security processor loader driver'.

In safe mode under Device status is says: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed (Code 24).

I afraid on uninstalling it as when I went to try and get the Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipsets on Intel I couldn't find it.

When I show hidden devices in normal boot, when it allowed me before it went blank again, it doesn't have that error on SPLD or the warning.
Hopefully someone sees this now in 2025 and can advise me. TIA

Update: In the thread I linked above talks about what my problem was, it was a corrupted User Profile that I had to delete.​
