Setting MS security essentials in Win 7

I have my desktop set up to scan every sunday at 1AM. It never does that. I have to manually run it. What's up? Or is MSSE really not doing anything? (Old person with little comp knowledge)

I personally keep it unchecked and run a manual scan when needed.

I've never used the scheduled scan setting, so I don't know how well it works.

Is your computer turned on and connected on Sunday, 1:00 A.M.?
