Setup is starting services "loop" No Repair or installation Disk

Hi Everybody,

I'm really in need of some help or advice with my laptop
Specs below:
Acer Aspire 5742
Intel i5-480M
6GB DDR3
Intel Graphics

It started when I needed to take the computer back to factory default with a fresh install. It was going back to Acer to have the charger point fixed (charger socket had become loose but still charged when it was held in).
I used the control panel interface to reinstall windows, all was going well until the laptop power died, I restarted the laptop and the screen displayed:

"setup is starting Services" a pop up box then appeared with

"the computer restarted unexpectedly or encounterd an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart installation."

I have searched around the net and found a few threads/guides but most require a repair disc or Installation disk. I have neither.
Is there any way of starting the install again? for example from Command Prompt?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

And the system I am currently on runs Vista,

At this stage then you may want to consider a clean install.

If you have access to another Windows 7 DVD that is the same version as yours, you can use your product key to activate it.

Of course, all this is immaterial if your hard drive is irrepairably damaged.

You can enter the Device Manager during install to see if any drivers are in error (likely Display) then uninstall them so that the install might complete, then install or update the driver from the desktop: Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

Otherwise you'll need to order a set of Recovery Disks from Acer, or use the Win7 installation DVD for your licensed version with the Product Key on COA sticker to clean reinstall which is a superior install: http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English

Possible solution for Acer laptops

I realise this may be a dead post but for anyone hunting for an answer with an Acer laptop try pressing ALT+F10 at the acer logo screen. On some it loads the acer image recovery console and gives you the option of destructive or non-destructive restore.
