Solved Shortcut to Favorites with full breadcrumb trail

Somehow I created a shortcut to Favorites that shows the full breadcrumb trail (Computer-Drive-Users-Name-Favorites) in (file) Explorer on several of my machines. Now want to do it on another box but my breadcrumb is just (Name-Favorites). Shortcut properties look the same. Obviously I did something different, but no idea what. Ideas?

Open Computer, browse to C:\Users\yourid.
Right click on Favorites and drag it to the Desktop. It will create the link you want. Could also right click and select Sendto then chose Desktop.

I don't have any problem creating the shortcut. I have a problem that the shortcut created by SendTo or manual creation doesn't show the full breadcrumb trail in (file) Explorer when it is clicked. I have some that do, so obviously there's a way - just can't remember what I did differently to get what I want.

I told you how to do it. The key is to use Windows Explorer to browse to anything user related via C:\Users, not via a library link.

Forgive me for being stubborn, but somehow I have made a shortcut to Favorites that when clicked, opens Explorer with the full breadcrumb and the navigation pane showing Computer-drive-Users-name-Favorites and the contents in the right pane. I just can't remember how I did it. I know I can create a shortcut to Users that almost does this (1 level up), but that's not what I want.

Favorites in the navigation pane is just linked shell folder, so it doesn't have an actual path.

If you like, Favorites is just your "Links" folder below though.

C:\Users\(user-name)\Links

OR

%UserProfile%\Links

That would be a shortcut to your "Favorites" folder used by Internet Explorer instead.

C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites

Ok, I must be incredible dense, but I just cannot repeat creating the shortcut the produces the top screen. Obviously I did before since that one works. What I'm doing now is navigating to the Users\user-name folder and creating a shortcut using SendTo desktop. Then edit properties to add Favorites = C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites. As soon as I do that, the folder icon changes to the one with the star and the bottom screen is produced when I use the new shortcut. duh. Can someone just shoot me?

It's the same folder. Only difference is that Windows automatically shortened what shows in the bread crumbs path when using a shortcut versus navigating to it.

I'm not sure what else you can do other that click on the arrows in the bread crumb path to see the rest, or click on an empty area in the address bar of explorer to see the full path.

Do it the way I described.

Open Computer
Navigate to C:\Users\youruserid
Right click (and hold, don't release) on Favorites
Drag to your Desktop and release
Select Create shortcut here

You will have a shortcut to Favorites withe the full path name.

Right click and chose Sendto does not work, it creates the truncated name.
