Shutdown, LogOff, Sleep, and Hibernation Question?

Hey I was trying to add a task scheduler script to run when the computer logs off, but does Windows log off when shutting down, sleeping, or hibernating? and when does the computer switch between sleep and hibernation? And why does my computer freeze after Sleep/Hibernation (or what could I do to find out the culprit)?

thanks for the tutorials! the hibernation one was good to know. the shutdown one, however, misses the point of my inquery. I was wondering if Windows logs off before shutting down? The script I wrote disables a USB audio interface I have (because it's drivers aren't working too well in windows 7 whenever my computer sleeps or shuts down) when the computer logs off. This would be pointless, though, if Windows doesn't log off at shutdown...

Hello Gorgrak,

When you click on Shut Down, Windows will log off users first, then shut down the computer.
