Six BSOD in a few wks during a vast different amount of apps/programs

Hello - let me preface the below with this - I know nothing about computer hardware and computer repair. I am running Avast on my laptop. Full virus scans show nothing and Malware Bytes nothing either. I didn't want to have to send it back to HP again - as my mirror program did not save my rights for my paid programs and I had to purchase office again. The laptop is still under warranty though.

1. I had BSOD errors in April and HP determined it was the motherboard and replaced it.
2. I have now had another six mini dumps - with the most recent during a school quiz online. (9/22)
3. These errors have occurred while using different applications together. Never the same apps at once; all the time. These different applications include:

• several web pages in firefox open and simply taking online quiz on blackboard (9/22)
• A few pages open and using Sublime to edit html for a class and a university VPN connection running to upload files. I then opened blackboard and it crashed(9/5)
• Word files open and a few browsing pages.

RAM: 7.0GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (total 8gb)

DELL S2409W (1920x1080@60Hz)
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon RF graphics (HP)
Storage: 698GB Toshiba MQ01ABD075 ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drives: HP DVDRAM GU90N ATA Device
Audio: Realtek HiDef Audo


Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have no other computer to use for college classes and no money to buy another.

Hi Lorelei7,

The cause of the crashes is a driver from your AMD GPU.

Please check your manufacturer for driver updates.
Please note the temperatures of your GPU when idle and under load.
Please run Furmark

Run Furmark to test your GPU. Furmark tutorial

   Note

Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high
