Slide show stuck

I just did a windows 7 install on my bosses laptop, And I can't get slideshow to work. I can take a pic off the net and set it and I can set solid colors. However none of the included windows themes change at all nor can I set them. Here are his specs:

HP Pavillion dv6000
Windows 7 Home 64 bit
Nvidia geforce GO 6150
AMD Turion 64 x2 1.8 Ghz
2 GB Ram

Well I did a repair install and it is working now. I have wasted 2 hours of my life fixing something that should just work. The more time I spend installing and fixing this for people the more I hate windows 7.
