So how is the CPU market looking?

I managed to snatch up a R9 280X for cheap 2 weeks ago as it was an offer I wouldn't see anytime soon here in Mexico, got it for 300Dollars give or take. Taking the import fees and all, it was a really good deal.

Anywho. I am currently running an A10-5800K and it would be a gigantic bottleneck for the 280x. I want to upgrade to a more consistent CPU platform, but I do not know what I would be the best. My budget is around 500 dollars for a CPU and motherboard alone.

Would it be a good bet to purchase the 8350 for now or wait for 2014 when FM2+ comes out?
What about an intel alternative? Would it be wise to move over to something intel? If so, what would be a good choice?

I am planning to keep this upgrade for 4 to 6 years without any major upgrade. That is no GPU+motherboard+cpu combination for decent gaming.

I am sure many will have their opinions on this, but me personally it has to be Intel, on a budget of $500 for just the CPU and motherboard you should be able to get the latest high performance Intel i7 4770K and a decent Asus motherboard. IMO it is the best you can get for your money and will out perform the AMD.

IMO it is the best you can get for your money and will out perform the AMD.

Why exactly must it be intel for you? Are there any specific tasks you do which intel performs outstandingly? I'm mostly looking for gaming support, I will not be multitasking while gaming besides the general skype call which my current processor does well anyway.

I looked up prices for the 4770K here and unfortunately it does come up to be 400 dollars, and a 100 dollar motherboard sounds pretty iffy to me.. I like to have a good and solid motherboard as well as PSU since they will support all of my system.

I prefer Intel as they perform better than AMD. I am not brand loyal, if AMD bought out a chip tomorrow that beat Intel at the same price I would switch straight away.

The 4670K looks good, but it seems to perform the same as the 8350 by AMD. Strangely enough, the 4670K and 4770K have almost the same results together. ???
