Hey

I installed win 7 ultimate 2 days ago. I started installing some of the programs i had i in my win xp but some of them just can´t be installed.

I found some of them for win 7 version but the ones i lke most i didn´t. So what do i have to do to install them if it´s possible.

I´ve tried compatibility and i have also tried the toubleshooter stuff but i din´t turn out good and the program crashed. one of them gave me the message "can´t create integer.." and "access violation"...

I heard about WrpMitigation, but i have to confess that i don´t know what it is and don´t how to use it.

Hi Rich. Thanks for replying.

I´ve checked the programs and found out that 3 of them are not in the list. i suppose that list is frequently updated is it?. Anyway, my programs are one or two years old. Now, does that mean that i can´t install them at all or i´m just messing things up when using the compatibility stuff?

Try this:
First check your OS on the XP machine and see what SP you had.
Then put the CD of one of your programs in the drive and open it. Look for the Setup.exe. Right click on it, click "Properties" then the "Compatibility Tag" and select you XP & SP and see if it installs OK.

Adding to Mitchell's comments, I've sometimes gotten results running setup as an admin. Further, right clicking on a program shortcut and choosing compat mode has met with success.

If not, and you can't obtain a replacement, there's always XP mode, which is a free download for Ultimate users.

Welcome to Seven Forums nikka. If we knew precisely which programs, we may be able to offer more suggestions as well. A Guy
