You will see step #6 here in the tutorial, this is where you decide if you want to do a clean install or an upgrade install.

An upgrade keeps everything from Vista, all your programs and data etc. and of course any problems (not recommended)

A custom install lets you wipe the drive clean then installs Windows 7

Ideally this is what you should do..... Remove the Vista drive completely and put it in the desk drawer.

Buy a brand new Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB SSD or a Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB SSD and install Windows 7 on that, neither one of those drives is very expensive, you can buy one directly from Samsung.

Hi TrashZone. The Duel Bay is cool, but I was thinking of installing the Vista into my wife's old laptop (now loaded with XP) and use it to feed live stream net movies on to the family room TV.

You can`t just pull a drive from 1 PC and put it into another.

You`d have to reinstall Vista again while the drive is in her PC.

Sure you may get lucky and it may boot up, but it will more then likely asked to be activated again.

1). After tranferring the HD, you could get it to boot up using this, works for Vista and win7 ( easier than it looks )

2). Vista will detect it is on a different PC and ask you to insert a product key after booting into it.
