After installing Win 7 i have not been able to have sound on this computer period. I have installed several drivers from downloading from the realtek website or through windows updates with no success.

First off this is what i am working with:

ECS PT880PRO-A

Onboard Audio - Realtek ALC655 / 6 channels

Within windows it does not seem there is a problem. No problems in device manager. Sound icon is present in the taskbar. When playback devices is selected and there is a song playing through VLC there is activity in the bar next to where it shows the audio device. Volume is not muted and is 100%.

I had no problem in XP/Vista. I also do have sound when i plug in my USB Logitech headset but i only have one set and i use it for my main computer not the living room PC.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

I had a similar problem

I had a similar problem, I solved it by installing the realtek driver. In the realtek manager the 'Analog' back panel controls, right click and select connector retasking. Mine defaulted to two plugs for the back channel and no plugs for the front channel.

Hope it helps.
