Okay, been workin at this for a day now. I have an ASUS CG5290 that I bought from Best Buy. It has a SoundMAX AD1988B audio card in it. I'm trying to get 5.1 into my Pioneer A/V reciever. I have a fiberoptic cable running from the SPDIF to my A/V reciever. I can get sound on all 5 speakers. Main problem is I don't know how I can test it to see if it is true 5.1. The configure option for the SPDIF is grayed out and unclickable. If I play music it will play mainly from the center speaker and low volume from the rest. If I try the sound in World of Warcraft it is somewhat 5.1 but really doesn't match up with the actual location of the sound source. Also the reciever is 7.1 but I only have 5 speakers hooked up (L,C,R,SL,SR) the SR(back) and SL(back) are unused. Is there a program I can download that will send specific sound signals to each of my speakers? I'm worried that I'm trying to fix it and its already working as good as it's gonna get lol.
