Solved SSD Suggestions

Okay I'm in deep poop,
I might as well replace my HDD while I'm reloading windows
Anyone know what will fit in my machine ?
I was looking at Samsung's at newegg but unsure which would apply to my system ;/
250 gig or 200 gig
Stat's are in system spec's

I'd probably go with the Crucial MX 100 if buying today.

Samsung Evo series would be second choice. They seem to be having some issues lately that is supposed to be fixed by new firmware soon. Something to do with performance on older files not being up to snuff.

If you have an ordinary desktop, I'd think any standard 2.5 inch SSD would fit. You may have to buy a mounting bracket if your case doesn't have mounting holes for 2.5 inch drives. Or you could use velcro or duct tape.

Intel is always a solid choice for reliability and good tools, but if you are a slave to benchmarks, you might not be amused by Intel's scores---despite the fact that the lower scores would not be detectable in ordinary use.

Thanks I don't care about benchmarks this machine isn't going to set any speed records anyway
Issue is I have to take it out to format the hdd anyway so I figured it was time to take it out and switch it out :/
I did see a Intel wasn't sure about it this really is not my thang

That's a good choice and includes brackets and cables.

Here's the comparable Crucial MX 100, a bit cheaper; not sure if brackets or cables are included or if you need them:

On this little case it mounts in a slot and the bracket is part of the dvd drive it's one of those vertical dvd drives not horizontal with four screws :/
I can't believe I got it out personally

To be sure that did NOT affect the "Pro" series, and regardless, the firmware fix is already out there.

I would get another HDD for your data and a SSD for your OS and programs. For SSDs, I favor the Samsung Pro series. The 850 Pro is the current top of the line model although you can get some pretty good deals on the older 840 Pro, which is still an excellent drive. I have an 840 Pro and have no intention of replacing it with the 850 Pro unless mine dies. Whe determining size needed, take the total size of the OS and programs and add roughly 1/3.

For data storage, I favor the WD Black series which has capacities up to 4 TB.

1. With 3 clicks and for 20 bucks you can use this program. It is a real no-brainer, aligns the SSD and shuts the defrag off.

2. With more brain investments and for free, use this method.
