Start Menu All messed Up

my start menu is all messed up and i didnt do anything it just randomly happened when i try to click on documents music or pictures it just does nothing then when i search it shows nothing and when i check more search results is shows a error im using windows 7 home Premium 64bit also i cant click on libraries in my computer

Hi, welcome to the forums

It could be that something has altered your system files. Can you still access the run command by pressing the Win Key+R? If so, try the following...

1, Press Win+R
2, Type CMD then press enter
3, Type sfc /scannow and press enter

This will perform a system-wide scan of your integral system files and repair any changes that may have happened.

it says you must be a administrator running a console session but im using my admin account?

You may want to try the following...

Create a new shortcut on the desktop linked to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe. Right-click the shortcut & select 'Run as Administrator' then you will be able to proceed with step 3

You might want to try resetting the Start Menu back to it's default settings.

Right-click the task bar and select Properties > Start Menu > Customize then click 'Use Default Settings'

Its says i need the DVD but i dont believe i have it and if i do its in a stack of dvds that my friend put somewhere in my house so id have to call him and i believe hes sleeping

going to need a blank CD which again my friend probably but somewhere (He was a roommate and he organized some things including the dvds/cds) but if you guys think this is most likely (70% and higher) to work then ill just go buy some blank cd's
