Hi.

I really like your tutorials and I've been reading alot of them. One of them is in this thread. I have no problems at all with the ones that came with the program, but when I try to make on myself,

r8av79.bmp

they always have the original Windows Orb shadow in the background.

Anyone have a solution to this problem? I use PS CS4 btw.

Thanks,
COol174.

Are you editing explorer.exe manually?
or
Are you using Start Orb Changer?

If you are editing manually,
Are you sure you are replacing the correct resources in explorer.exe?
What is your DPI settings?
If its normal DPI, then you will have to replace 6801, 6805 and 6809 in explorer.exe

Based on other DPI settings, its
6802, 6806 and 6810
6803, 6807 and 6811
6804, 6808 and 6812

EDIT: Be patient till the post is replied to. No use in bumping the thread every hour.

That tells me your always using a prevous bitmap orb and drawing on that. Photoshop will preserve the original alpha image of the bitmap.

You need to create a fresh new png image. THEN make your orb. Save the png and look for alpha image convertor. It will convert it to a valid bmp.

Keep in mind there are many ways of creating these orbs. So you WILL get multiple answers. Various results.

I have delt with alpha channels for years. Good luck.

I did what Blizarro said, and the shadow is gone, but is there any way to remove the black box that appears in a half sec on mouseover?

@gladson1976, sorry for not being
patient.... :o

If I recall, its because there is an issue with converted pngs.

Like I said. Various methods = various results.

Have you tried StartOrbz? Thats something I coded.

Save a PNG of your work, with a black background, and use this small app to make the alpha channels right (save as BMP). It should work for you ;)
Select target format to BMP and check the box below. ;)
