Its unknown the reason MS issue secuity updates is some new problem has surfaced so with no updates if any are found you will be vunrable. Firms will stop writting drivers and software for 7 so sooner or latter you will have to update its still free but rumoured it wont be when support ends

A good computer security practice comes in layers. You need a reasonable network solution, which means a robust and reliable firewall, and this is often solved by using a router that isn't set to lax defaults. Then, you have the Internet-facing element, and here, you need robust and up-to-date browsers. Firefox and Chrome will do. Lastly, you have the foobar element - which is what happens when things go wrong. Indeed, when that does occur, you need to: a) minimize damage b) ensure the integrity of your data.

One last question I could leave Windows 7 and dual boot a Linux side by side and use Linux as my everyday work such as my banking shopping browsing etc and use Windows for my games and my Roxio easy dvd 3 plus to transfer my videos over

Not sure why you think a VPN would help, You can download malware just as easy on VPN compared to a regular connection.

VPN were created in my opinion for businesses that wanted to keep everything on their network secret from the highly skilled or determined competition.
Most of it's subscribed users nowadays are people who download illegal content like Movies,TV, Pirated software or hacking other computers.

Thanks Digital life sorry for the dumb questions I find my system runs better with 7 rather then 10 I tried it very resourceful so if I dump vpn and use malwarebytes and say free avast and drop the internet explorer or bite the bullet and get 10 back or dual boot linux platform I download from torrents like old music and movies but I also do my banking and just browse an email

It may be worth changing your DNS to Quad9 which blocks malware if you insist on staying with Windows 7 after support ends.

Your safest way forward is to put 10 back on as that will be supported for many years to come, I've no idea about the dual booting 7 (I've not done it in years), maybe somebody else could answer that.
