OK, so I just upgraded from Windows Vista Business x64 to Windows 7 RC x64.
I didn't do a clean install, just did the upgrade method.
Steam runs fine but as soon as I try to launch any games, it closes down without warning and with no error message of any kind.

There was no problem in Windows XP Pro, Vista Business or Windows 7 Beta with Steam.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, to no avail.
Is it caused by using the upgrade method, over a clean install?
I don't really have anywhere to backup my 100GB+ worth of data at the moment so I was hoping for a quick method to install Win7 RC.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated...

Probably because of the upgrade. i was just playing L4D on RC 32-bit. i haven't had any problems at all with steam+games.

countless posts say that upgrading causes problems. i smoked a HDD doing that with an older build. so that would be my guess.
