Hi

I have a number of computer networked together some are Windows 7 and some XP and one is Win 10. The networks have worked well until I had a problem with my phone and modem. I moved the modem from one room to another and took one cable out of one computer to plug into the modem from the hub. I did not touch the other computers an they remained plugged into the hub like before. I did this to have a shorter cable between the telephone and the modem. The phones now work and the internet does as well. However, I cannot connect to any of the computer via the network any more. I use a wired network with cat 5 networking cables. I am on NBN broadband at Tolga, near Cairns.

The names of the computer appear to be the same. Do you have any suggestions what could cause the problems and what I could try?

Could Network Troubleshooting in Windows 7 help me?

Regards Richard

Hi

It is a modem connected to a router that is connected to 5 computers.

However, I worked out what the problem is. I upgraded AVG antivirus a while back and when I did it, a firewall blocked my network connections. So I disabled it to get them working again. However, the program automatically enabled the firewall again and this blocked the network again. I changed a setting to fix the problem.

Regards Richard.
