Sudden decrease in Dedicated Video Memory

Earlier, I was trying to boost the performance of my PC and tried things out. At first, based on what I remember, my Dedicated Video Memory was around 1000+ (not sure about the exact value) while the Total Ram on Windows Task Manager was 7886. As I was trying things out, I have to use system restore because I have uninstalled some files and needed to revert that action. After the restore, I noticed that my Dedicated Video Memory became 256mb! while my Total Ram is still at 7886. I tried to fix it by settings things at default in the BIOS settings but it doesn't work. I tried to increase my Dedicated Video Memory by allotting 1026?mb of my ram but with that option, it reduced my ram. I wanna revert back to the old settings where my Dedicated Video Memory was around 1000+mb and w/ Total Ram of 7886.

Thanks

Welcome to SevenForums!

Try reverting your bios settings to default. If possible, avoid modifying the alloted video memory because windows will do it itself depending on how an application needs it.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
If you want more graphic's memory get off on board graphic's and buy a graphic's card that has as much memory as you want or can afford 1-2-4gbs
There's no mention of the model pc or what mother board you have only an Acer monitor :/

But yes allocating memory places that memory in Hardware reserved and removes it from available ram.

You can not increase dedicated video memory, you are talking about shared system memory.

Set your bios back to defaults (F5) and let windows manage the memory given to the cpu.

As Mike suggests, by a video card, with no less then 4 GB of memory.

Example:

MSI USA

EVGA - Products - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 GAMING ACX 2.0+ - 04G-P4-3973-KR

And you`ll need a power supply.
