Whenever I play music which is stored on my external hard drive, either through iTunes or media player, the whole system comes to a stop, I am unable to close the music program and it wont restart by going to start menu (I have to press and hold the off button!)
Does this happen to anyone else...Any ideas what to do to fix it?

I haven't had that problem but I'm not playing from an external either, but to kill the Media Player when this happens right click on the taskbar and select start task manager and that way you should be able to close it without having to turn off the computer.

It might be worth checking the integrity off all the windows files, to do this go to the start menu and type cmd and hit enter, now in the window that comes up type "sfc /scannow", let it complete the scan which should take 5 minutes or more and once complete it will tell you if it found any problems and if it has it will ask you to reboot to take effect, hope this helps and welcome to the forum Jonezy.

I'm running a scan now to see if that helps. Thanks :)

Windows 7 RC Hanging Problem

I am having the same problem with Windows 7 RC. I can't seem to figure out a reason for the hanging problem yet, the system hangs for no obvious reason, sometimes I would be surfing the net and the whole system freezes and I have to hard-reboot (press the switch off and hold it for 5 seconds). Sometimes, I would be watching a movie through the SkyStar2 satellite PCI card for about few hours and the system just freezes. I can't give an exact reason, but this is a continuous pattern since I installed Windows 7 RC, as much as I love the new OS, it is just painful the amount of times I have to reboot every day. Any assistance would be grateful.

Windows 7 RC Hanging

A thought just jumped to my mind: Windows 7 RC might not be handling the "Power Option" while playing any media, it probably can't tell that something is playing and is determining the system to be not in use for over 10 mintues which causes it to implement the power-down routine. Try to change the power options to "tunr off monitor, change to - Never" and change "Stand-by sytem, change to - Never". This might help you.
