Like so many I had problems downloading Windows 7 Updates. (My older computer, (Grandpa)

I tried everything I found on this forum and the Microsoft site with no luck.
So I bit the bullet and did a Repair Install. The install went as it should but still unable to update Windows 7. More days of Hell trying to get updates to work, no good results.

Bit the bullet again and did a Clean Install.
You guessed it; Updates still didn't work.
So once again I used ThrashZone instructions and methods and BINGO updates worked again as they should. Why the ThrashZone method didn't work on the Repair Install is unknown to me.
But as a guess it's was probably because all the things I did to keep W-10 out of my system carried over with the Repair Install and was not fixable. Thank you Microsoft for all the W-10 love you shared. :devil:

No way can I remember all the things I tried. But I did try everything I could find on this forum and Microsoft site.

Now I have a working properly Windows 7 and all it's updates. Also when I check for Windows 7 Updates it searches for 3 min. and states their are no new updates.

Also a big thank you to ThrashZone.

I'm trying to get the bad taste of W-10 out of my mouth and not even Maker's Mark is helping.
Maybe I need more treatments of Maker's Mark.
It's time to celebrate.

I did have a problem installing my Lifetime Malwarebytes Anti Malware Premium.
My dumbass mistake. I inverted two numbers in my key; of course it would not work.
With fast help from Malwarebytes the problem was solved.

The clean install one has a link to my onedrive for the updates just skip the KB3125574 one it is only needed for the clean install

Windows 7 won't update - Microsoft Community

1.Change Windows Update settings to NEVER.
2.Type services in the text box that pops up when you click the start globe
3.Select and open the services window
4.Find and right click on Windows Update (service), choose Stop
5.Close the Windows Update window. If it will not close, start Task manager (right-click on task bar) and end the task.
6.Now go to : Search for Windows Updates takes forever? - A possible solution
7.Download all 5 of the updates listed there to a folder on your desktop. Choose the correct column for your computer.
8.Double-click and start each one, one at a time. Do not be surprised if one or more respond with already installed. This may take a while to process. It is likely one or more of these will install.
9.You do not have to restart after each one finishes, if there are more than one installed.
10.Restart and wait for the Windows Update process to complete and automatically restart your computer.
11.Open Task Manager again and wait till you see the percentage at the bottom reach and stay below about 10%
12.Now start Windows Update

Yea no need to go to either of those websites we have all of the file downloads here
Of which there are only 2 for an existing install not 5
And 3 on a clean install not 5

Yes the credit goes to ThrashZone. It must be a full time job for him to keep up with all the update methods needed for Windows 7.

Remember the good old days when one would just would just tick on Check for Updates and Windows 7 would just update with out tricks, magic or voo doo?
