I saw a news article that mentioned the outage, but I cannot find it now.

While searching for it, I did find this:

Apparently, the 24th of January was a bad day for e-mail servers. If you scroll the bottom that that advert riddled webpage, you might find one person who commented thusly:

Hotmail and Outlook are DOWN! Been up and down this morning. Now completely dead for a few hours.
