I agree with you Dinesh. So if you have at least 4gb RAM, go for MSE or get a new AV that is much lighter and more effective.

I'm a little surprised that MSE would be high on RAM usage. Being that it's a Microsoft product I thought it would be suitable for ANY PC needing free protection (that won't slow you down). However, as I observe some of these other competing companies, I am always having questions about some of the things they offer. For instance, Trend Micro Titanium now offers cloud-based technology and protection. That means (from my assumption) that if you're in an area with no internet, and plugin an INFECTED USB DRIVE, Trend Micro wouldn't detect anything because it would need an internet connection, right? :huh: If that's the case, then that surely can't be very safe/reliable...

It is a fact that MSE uses 50 to 80MBs of RAM (which is more than most other AV programs). However, in this day and age where most PCs come with 4GBs of RAM, that may not be such a big problem. What is more important is the interference in the daily processing. And in that regard, MSE is pretty low key.

No that's not the case. Every cloud AV keeps a cached copy of its update database which works when there is no internet connection.

I didn't know that about cloud AV's keeping a copy of the updates locally. That would make sense to keep you better protected...
