Microsoft has informed of a Windows 7 RTM-related issue in which users will notice that a rogue pixel will appear on their screens. A white dot can be displayed on the top-left corner of the screen for Windows 7 computers that are running under a Windows Aero theme, but for which the customers have disabled transparency. Disabling Aero transparency is one of the key actions that users can do in order to squeeze a little more performance from their computers into scenarios in which the hardware requirements of Windows 7 are not exactly met.

I tried this, and I do see it. This reminds me of a previous easter egg that also involves a white pixel in the top left. Can't remember which though..

Ive never seen this issue, I just tried this on my machine and on with a Win7 Basic VM and it doesnt occour there either.

Ive been using Windows 7 for over a year and myself and many others would have noticed this occurring allot sooner, I switch from Aero/Basic/Classic themes daily while doing application UI design testing and it defiantly doesn't occur :huh:

With so little details posted about what hardware it affects I believe it must be related to a specific driver or a complete load of bullocks. (ill go with the latter)

Considering how small it is, and how it's only visible when Transparency is disabled (most have it enabled anyway), people would barely notice it. I never noticed it.

I see it. Turn off transparency, use the Magnifier tool a couple of times, and there it is, that HUGE single bright pixel.

Damn, I knew there was something I didn't like about Windows 7.

to be honest i wouldnt notice it if you didnt tell me.... i really had to squint, and i wasnt sure it wasnt a piece of dust or something til i turned transparency back on

I've got this now famous "One White Dot" pixel on my screen from the beginning...It is very very tiny but i can see it.

I've transparency checked since the early time...will try disable if it disappear....

If I change to a different one of my saved themes then close the window the dot is gone.
