Thousands of random photos on my laptop

My hard drive was getting a bit full so I decided to go through my photos as I figured there would be duplicates on there. To my utter shock, I found over 20 thousand random images that ranged from images from Tesco from when we do our online shop to loads of screenshots of home videos we've played to thousands of images of instruction manuals. I haven't got a clue what's going on. I'm slowly deleting them but I'm guessing it will keep happening until I find out what;'s causing it and stop it. Could it be a virus?

What is the path of some of these images?

Are they located here?
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

There certainly were some in there but there were others in folders called Nero, Real and I can't remember the others because they were so big I had to permanently delete them so they're not in my recycle bin. The strangest one for me is the videos we've watched having random screen shots of them.

Just to reiterate UsernameIssues please quote the path to some of the video stills. Here's how:
Right click on the image and in the context menu that opens click "Properties" and then look in "Location".
Additional bit of info: What file extension do these images have?

Thanks for your reply. Due to the big clean up operation, I've now deleted all the files so I don't actually know any more. I'll have to wait until it happens again (assuming it will) and then come back. :huh:
