Solved Total Commander regedit changes, Explorer broken

So I tried the first registry script when attempting to cause folders to be opened by Total Commander (I am using Ultima Prime version) instead of Explorer, then when it wasn't working as planned I tried reverting. Explorer still wasn't working, so I've recently noticed there is a specific registry script for windows 7 a little further down the page, I tried both that and the reversion and no success. When I say not working, this is what occurs:
If I click explorer, I get a window named S:\ (my storage drive) stating:
S:\
Application not found

This occurs similarly when trying to open other folders, sometimes it will display absolutely nothing within the window without a title for the window either, sometimes it will have a bit of extra pathing after the S:\

I don't know much about how the registry script works, I'm hoping someone who does can either point out how to fix this issue and actually apply the script so that I can substitute explorer with TCUP for file management, or fix this issue by making explorer work and forgetting about TCUP altogether.

Try to do a system restore prior to installing Total Commander, Then stay away from software like it, windows 7 will manage your files fine.

& if you really must experiment (who doesn't sometimes) in spite of the dangers, crate an image backup of the system disk on an external disk immediately before doing anything (or\and as a minimum create a fresh restore point). That would save one from lots of potential headaches.

I did the system restore, it fixed the problem. Thanks, and I was actually hoping somebody could show me a good source for information about the registry. I am studying computer science, so while I don't trust myself with the registry currently, I feel I should eventually take the time to sit down and learn about it.
