UAC Question

Hi, i was wondering if there is any way to bypass the UAC request box for certain programs? I already have it set at the second lowest setting, but it still pops up too much. Is there any way to stop this box popping up for certain applications?

On way to setup uac prompts to go away, in many cases, create a shortcut to the program
and then go to properties of the shortcut and select compability. check run as administrator
and that works. Most times.

I finally disabled UAC and like it much better that way. I do have excellent security and try to be very careful. Yes, it's a little more risky this way, but the UAC controls were driving me crazy. I haven't had any problems so far. . . knock on wood.

Turning of the UAC was the first thing I did after getting my computer (other than booting up and logging on of course)

And I have managed to happily keep UAC enabled on every machine that I use both at home and at work. I feel a lot better knowing when applications try/need to escalate their rights. It's a good indication that something fishy is up.

I also agree with this ... it doesn't bother me one bit to keep UAC set to request what I want to do.

Just a word of caution :

If you use IE, and you turn UAC OFF, then Protected Mode is also OFF. There is no way to have UAC OFF but keep Protected Mode ON.

Thank you Golden. Yes, there is no question that it is risky to have your UAC turned off. That's why it is imparative to have sufficient other fail-safe methods of security on your system.
