Unable to restore

I'm not sure you can do anything about it.

System Restore fails at times. In my experience, maybe once in 30 or 40 attempts.

I'd use another restore point or go to Plan B, whatever that might be.

How helpful.....I just joined this forum today to ask this very same question. It doesn't seem to matter how far back of a restore point I go, I take 40 minutes of my day to merely get this same exact error message.

I will say that after doing this task over and over again ( I never get a full restore, it always fails), the laptop will work pretty well for a while, but then within a week or two get real sluggish. Go through all the avast and malwarebyte checks with no problems, except one. Some files appear to be password protected so can't be scanned. Would this be a related matter?

Somewhere on this forum I have read a few places where members using Avast have had messed up restore points.

Thanks for the quick reply. I use the free version of Avast, have for years with no noticeable issues, but if needed, I'm willing to uninstall for a time if it will allow a fresh restore point. Thoughts?

I just Googled Avast restore point problems and their are a bunch.

If it was my computer I would remove Avast using their online tool and install MSE.

Make sure Avast Cloud is removed or Avast anything to do with restore.

Other problems people are having using Windows 7 restore points is some 3rd party defrgag programs. Once used they move the restore points around where Windows 7 can't find them.

If you decide to take action you will probably have to start fresh with Windows 7 Restore Points. If you need help doing that just ask.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

If it doesn't solve your problem you can always install Avast again.

I personally use MSE and the Windows 7 built in defrag when I'm using a hard drive.
I mostly just use ssd's so I don't defrag.

Thanks Bear,
I'm out of time to mess to this anymore today, but hopefully can apply some of the help. As I said, I'm a noob here, and really not very savvy at my age anyway. Just tired of weird crash points.
