Unable to set Google as default search engine in MS Edge Windows 10

All the sites I consulted give the same procedure to change from Bing to Google, via Settings. It looks simple enough, but it doesn't work!
After selecting Google in the Privacy settings, MS Edge keeps on Bing.
I don't like it because in the Bing search results the same url are endlessly duplicated on and on for many pages. I checked the Google engine. It still gives some duplications , but not as many. Some of the Google search results don't even appear in Bing. Is there a way, perhaps with the CMD or Powershell, or digging up and removing Bing in Windows or in the Registry?
