Solved Unable to turn on Auto Run

I know there are other posts on this subject but they don't help. I disabled Autorun with avg tools, but want it back on. It shows it is on but it will not start. Hope someone has an answer for me.

Perhaps the problem lies with AVG? If you used it to turn it off, and now it isn't working, perhaps the only way around this is to uninstall it. That would be my guess. (AVG is horrible anyway, it may be worth the uninstall). But if you do uninstall it, use its uninstaller tool. I would recommend microsoft's Security Essentails as an easy and well-made AV instead.

If you really want to keep AVG going for whatever reason, just try a reinstall. It isn't a very good program, and has a lot of issues it has yet to work out, but this is totally up to you what you do.

Tried that mse and it allowed several trogans in and some bad sites, etc. Anyway when I turned off autorun I used avg tools of some sort allowing me a one time use, and then pay for it, so it is of no use noww

Even if you don't choose MSE, I highly recommend removing AVG. I've experienced problems with AVG and have helped others fix problems with AVG installed. It has to be one of the poorest quality AVs I've ever encountered. But read what others think, often they will post links to studies on the matter.

I use MSE and have for a several years. What's most important about getting a virus is what web sites you go to and what you download. Your browsing habits are as important as your AV program. None of them will protect you if you frequent hazardous sites.

I was using MSE and had Immunet running along side of and also had WOT running, and kept all of them updated. These were all free. I still got caught with 3 Trojans and some other baddies. I am running now running AVG INternet security 2012, not free, and it is the one which caught the trogans. Don't know what to say.

That may be because you aren't supposed to run 2 antiviruses at the same time. They run over each other. Meaning Immunet and MSE.

Keep all antiviruses updated though, no matter which you choose.

Wot is good, and you might add a malware remover such as malwarebytes that can be coupled with MSE (AVG noted some problems when installed with Malwarebytes early on, don't know if it changed). Also, best antivirus is you, stay away from questionable sites and that will keep you far more safe than an antivirus can.

Can we use Immunet 2.0 with MSE - Microsoft Answers

conflicts are still possible, but as you say, since it is a companion antivirus, such a risk is greatly reduced. Interesting, this is new to me.

I still think AVG is a big problem for computers with my past experience (bloated and causes problems), but you are using the paid version and seem to like it. So long as it is working for you, it should be fine. But you said you used some of its tools to change auto run, to which I wouldn't know the solution for the problem besides an attempt to remove AVG. I can't promise that would solve anything either. Perhaps I've run out of ideas
