Solved Unofficial Windows 7 Service Pack Query

CalebBurns

Heavy Time Waster
There exists a service pack for Windows 7 made by a guy who calls himself "teknix," he has his own website. He's made some other software, including Revert8Plus, which makes later versions of Windows look like 7 :-)
On it, there's this Unofficial Service Packs - Tech Stuff
I do know you shouldn't install service packs that you don't know the contents of, so does anyone on here know what it actually updates? Is it trustworthy?

If you look carefully at the link you posted, that website just links to Simplix, not something made by that guy himself, as the website says. A similar note is also for the Vista one.
So the question boils down to "Do you trust the Simplix author?"

I know teknix pretty well, we used to chat on discord. He makes god-sent software, like Revert8Plus. You can trust him...
But the 7 SP2 is not his he just provides a link to download it, the work is made by another team or indivudal who i think is/are based in Ukraine or Russia, but does that really matter?

Revert8Plus looks interesting
The developer states that Microsoft broke it for 22H2. A fix is coming, but that's the trouble with these third-party fixes - they tend to not work after a while. I've decided to stay with what W10 has in terms of GUI, but doing all I can to make it look like W7. I am happy with the results.

you are totally right about those thir dparty patche sthat tend to be unreliable, but its usually -and in this case- a problem of the platform and not the developer.

Also as a person close to the creators of Revert8Plus, Development, due to lack of team members and drama is painstakingly slow, and they might postpone the update a month or two.

But since you are satisfied with what you have, i have no reason to argue.

More often than not, when using tools that modify Windows to give it more usable look and feel is usually better to disable updates to avoid an update tampering with customizations. Microsoft loves to change things for little reason (and usually with detrimental usability effects) and those frequently break the assumptions made by such tools.
