Auto update is ticked (turned on) for all users (admin & user) but i have to manualy select update now to install???
used to see notification box for updates when available ,but for some reason no longer.I have to manualy check. (box is ticked to allow notifications)????
Also was under impression that driver updates would auto instal for Win 7 ,today checked system with (free update program) and showed 14 ancient drivers ,some pertinent to microsoft /win7.?????
Installed security programs . Iobit malware /malwarebytes/spybot/AGV 2011/CCleaner/Registry Mech/ could any of these be causing issue.

* IMHO -
Iobit would be better removed.
Spybot is not generally recommended to be used with Win 7.
CCleaner....there are various views about this type of program.
Unless you are a very experienced computer user this type of program is best avoided.
Used carelessly problems can & do happen.

* Re Update not working.
Go to Start > run > input "services.msc" > scroll down to Windows Update > check that the Status is started & that the Startup Type is automatic.

*For good measure run SFC. & Check Disk.

I am experiencing the same problem with Windows 7 automatic updates not installing automatically. Like Oldhead I have auto update and all users selected. Unlike Oldhead I have different software. I have three machines with this problem, but I will restrict my post to just one right now. This one machine is running Win7 Home with Webroot (anti-virus). I do not have any of the other software running that Oldhead listed. I have followed JMH's advice. Status = Started & Startup Type = Automatic. I have run SFC 4 times. I have attached the first and last results. I also ran Check Disk. The first results are posted. The Check Disk results are now clear/nothing to resolve.

I do not see any updates from Oldhead yet. What should be my next step? Has what I have done resolved the problem? In other words, were there errors found that caused my problem?

Thank you in advance for the help.

2wheels it is not a good idea to seek help re your issues on this thread no matter how similar the problems appear to be. I also note this thread has been marked as solved.

Should you still need advice after following the above steps please start a new thread.
