Gooday all. I hope I'm in the right place here. Please shift me if not. Like many others I am keen to run win 10. I have really enjoyed working with win 7. I also like to use a linux distro. I have 2 discs of win7 one is pro and the other is home premium. What I would like to do is format my 1tb drive into 3 partitions. On 1 partition I would like to load win 7 HP. Second partition load win 7 pro and 3rd partition load my linux distro. When this is done I would like to turn win 7 HP into win 10. Can anyone see a problem with this?
Thanks in advance for reading this.

HI,
I would upgrade the 7 home premium first to 10
Then add the other os's

The upgrading process has been hit and miss it's just a little risky doing it with 3 installs on the same disk

Ideally you'd put each install on it's own drive
Disconnecting while installing each of them.

I agree with Mike, put each OS on it`s own drive, they are so cheap, there`s no reason not to.

Put 10 on a solid state drive.

Thanks for replies on this. I have used the one hard drive to do the upgrade and installs. Haven't put linux on yet so only 2/3 of the way. Everything seems to be going ok.

No wuccas yet AddRAM. The MBR just sorted it's self out. Linux asks for specific directions for the GRUB. I will get back on next week after I put the PCLOS on the drive and let you know how it goes.

So, reporting back on this little adventure. I made the 3 partitions using gparted. I then did as described with the win partitions. I couldn't get them to party with PCLOS so I put Ubuntu derivative MINT on the drive. It loaded perfectly, updated and is now lying comfortably alongside the other 2 operating systems. I flit back and forth between them regularly and there appear to be no worries. Have to say that Win7 is the easiest OS to live with.
Thanks for reading this. Have a good weekend. JT53.
