Meh, it's true. Thunderbolt is on its way into becoming another Firewire, if it goes on like this.

I was hoping that someone would make PCI-e cards to add Thunderbolt ports to a rig, as it's basically a PCi-e cable.

ASUS had a weird PCI-e card for Thunderbolt for their P8Z77-V Deluxe board that also had to connect to the online DisplayPort (no loss since Thunderbolt can accept a DisplayPort at the end of the daisy chain) and a Thunderbolt header on the MOBO. That went over well. :sarc:

I would avoid those evil bay usb cards. Zero support if you ever need it.

You do not have usb 3 connector on your mobo so you need a pci card. I would use a SilverStone USB PCI adapter.

Great customer support, this card well give you two USB 3.0 ports at the rear and it has a 19 pin header so you can add a front panel USB. SilverStone makes those also. SilverStone has good drivers and support.

Sorry but that card only has an internal USB 3.0 header and no rear USB 3.0 ports. This one, however, will give both two rear ports and an internal header for front ports and is also made by Silverstone.

I agree about FleaBay. It's possible to get incredible deals there but there are a lot of dodgy vendors on that site. Amazon is much better although you have to watch out for their Marketplace vendors. Some of them are pretty dodgy and it takes extraordinary measures to get Amazon to back them up, unlike Amazon's service for their own products.

The rear port version was I wanted to link, error on my part. Been using one for several months and it's GTG, faster than I expected. I just bought this USB hub for my xp box I'm updates. I've wasted $80 on a dfi nf4 ultra-d, amd 64x2 4600+ and a 9800gt, should run better than the old 64 3500+ and 6150.

I've been lucky on both evilbay and amazon, a few doa's and they have been taken care of with just a few emails.

Wow! Eight front panel USB ports! And here I was thinking I was insane (actually I am but USB ports have nothing to do with it) having five front panel USB ports (the two original USB 2.0 and the three added USB 3.0 ports). I would have been happy with only two USB 3.0 ports total and a card reader.

Now, the back of the case is a whole 'nuther story. I have seven ports occupied.
