Hello i have bought a flirc usb device to use with my remote controls, i have successfully installed the correct drivers for this device but when i insert the device my mouse and key board randomly becomes inactive. i have contacted the developer and he says he has never heard of anything like this. is there anything i can do? windows side of things that is?
here is a link to flircs website http://flirc.tv/
flirc is a usb ir receiver device, thanks
Not a lot of information about the device on that website. So it is seat of the pants time.
I suspect a driver conflict - the flirc drivers and the input devices drivers are not playing nice together.
A device driver normally consists of multiple single files. Sometimes the new device will replace a single shared driver file that is more to it's liking, but not to the other devices that share that file.
You can try and reinstall the mouse and keyboard to see if when they reinstall they will replace the buggy file.
Assuming you have a standard keyboard and mouse - just go into Device manager and "uninstall" the mouse and keyboard listed there. Then restart the computer. The mouse and keyboard drivers will be reinstalled on the next startup.
